Excellence in Teaching Award
Recognising an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment and creativity in teaching contemporary European Studies and whose practice has had a demonstrable positive impact on their students. Applications are currently open and will close on Monday 25 May 2026 at 23:59 BST.
The award is open to anyone who teaches European Studies in a formal or non‑formal educational setting.
Prize

- Three‑day attendance at the UACES 56th Annual Conference in Prague
- A featured interview on the UACES website
- Promotion across UACES social media channels
- A pre‑organised panel at the UACES Annual Conference in 2027
How to apply
If you meet the eligibility criteria and would like to apply for this award, either for yourself or on behalf of someone else, please complete the online application form.
You will be asked to provide details of your teaching practice and a supporting statement addressing the award criteria.
To help you structure your statement, you may wish to consider the following questions.
- Describe your approach to teaching European Studies. What principles underpin your practice?
- Describe one or two specific examples of innovative or particularly effective teaching that you are proud of. What did you do, why, and what happened?
- How do you know your teaching is having a positive impact on your students? What evidence can you point to — formal or informal?
