Sarah Cunningham is a final year doctoral candidate at the University of Lincoln's School of Law. Her thesis, titled: '"The Happy Hunting Ground of Europe?" Holding European Union Member States Accountable under European Union Law for Human Rights Violated Committed through Alleged Complicity in the CIA-Led Counterterrorism Operation of Extraordinary Rendition,' crosses the fields of European Union law, human rights law, counterterrorism and public international law.Prior to enrolling at Lincoln, Sarah completed an LLB at the University of Glasgow in Scots Law and graduated 'Cum Laude' from Leiden University with an LLM in Public International Law.Sarah is committed to promoting human rights and fighting injustice and was involved in establishing the Scottish branch of JUSTICE; volunteered in the legal department of the Miscarriages of Justice Organisation; and helped draft the judgment of the Special Court for Sierra Leone which found former Liberian President Charles Taylor guilty of 11 counts of war crimes, crimes against humanity and other serious violations of international humanitarian law.
